We are all looking to find happiness in life. Somehow it is easier for others regardless of their circumstances. How is this possible? It may come down to the path we take to get to happiness. We often make it harder for ourselves to be happy because of the expectations we place on ourselves and on our reality. It may seem obvious but gratitude and appreciation for the positive things in life will make the path easier to travel on.
Choose Your Path To Happiness: Lack of Desire Vs Desire for Achievement
We will find that happiness by choosing a path of “Lack of Desire” or “Desire for Achievement”.
Lack of Desire
Buddha says that “desire is the beginning of unhappiness”. ‘ That means when we desire things and we don’t get them, then it creates unhappiness in our life. And so if we were to lower our expectations If we were to have less desire, then we may experience a happier life because we don’t have to experience failures and setbacks and those kinds of issues.
Desire for Achievement
The second path to happiness is the desire to achieve. And so sometimes people think that I can’t be happy until I have enough money. I can’t be happy until I buy the new home. I can’t be happy without my new husband or a new
wife. I can’t be happy until a certain result happens. And there’s nothing wrong with that level of desire as well because we should be all seeking purpose and passion and achievement in our lives. (We should) expect and desire to achieve a certain amount of money a certain status, a certain home, a certain result in your life. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that.
The challenge is is that you don’t want to be unhappy in the process of trying to create happiness. That’s why we have to stand in happiness. Regardless of what’s going on, just be filled with joy, be filled with love, be filled with peace, and yet desire to achieve your goal, desire to achieve your dreams. But you’re not going to be unhappy and you’re not going to be taken off of your past. If you don’t achieve the goal, you see it’s the journey that I’m talking about.
